Cameron Highland - Parkview Apartment

There are several alternatives for you to decide where you want to overnight in Cameron Highland. If you have many friends or family which tagging along, you may consider renting an apartment. We came across this apartment - Parkview, which situated in Tanah Rata. Markets, banks, restaurant, and pub were just walking distance away.

Living room - filled with a set of sofa, a TV set with satellite TV (Astro)

Dinning room

Kitchen - Equipped with gas stove completes with an exhaust, basic cutlery, microwaves, and refridgerator. You would find most of the things you had in your kitchen back in your home.

Master room - Very spacious, consist of queen sized bed and 2 sofa chair, private balcony, and attached with private bathroom.

Medium room - Slightly smaller than master room but it is spacious too. Same as master room, it consist of a queen sized bed, private balcony, and attached with private bathroom.

Small room - 2 single bed and attached with a common bathroom.

Single room - 1 single bed

All bathroom comes with water heater as the water in Cameron Highland is extremely cold.

Given with the price of RM400 for 4 room unit, and RM300 for 3 room unit per night, I would say is quite worthy. It was clean and spacious too.

Password Reset for user accounts in Windows Vista

Have been inactive for blogging quite sometime, and I really wanted to share this out few weeks ago, however the bloggin mood is not there yet. Finally is here today... :P

Have you ever stucked on the Ctrl Alt Del screen and trying hard to figure out what is the password for your account? There are many people in this world who forgets their password for their own computer (wheter accidentally or on purpose) especially the administrator password which they don't even know when and why they should use it. If you've been to this situation, you know how pain it is for the process of cracking the password setup by yourself. In fact there are bunch of tools in the internet which teaches you on how to break into your own system with their smart tools. However often enough these tools comes with a price. Fortunately Microsoft is getting "smarter" as they introduced a great tools which automatically comes with every Windows Vista (with or without SP1), Server 2008 (with or without R2) or even Seven (at least in RTM) - The "Ease of Access" button. In my opinion, this time they really meant it - hard. Why? Read this to refresh your memory.

Now there is another way which is even much more simple as to achieve this, no administrator account/password required, no ownership hassle, no UAC, and straightforward in the process of backdoor creation. The magic lies in the Windows Installation DVD itself. (WinPE is an alternative) Before that, please ensures that your computer are capable to boot from your DVD drive (just to be sure :P) and is set to boot from DVD rom. Steps below might be vary if you booting from WinPE.

1. Place the DVD into your optical drive.

2. Boot into the DVD by Press any key when you've been told.

3. Wait and wait for the DVD to be booted.

4. Then it reaches the installation screen. Click "Next" even though you have the Windows installed N years ago.

5. Select the last option which is "Repair your computer".

6. Choose the first option when System Recovery Options where prompted.

7. Choose "Command Prompt" from list of options available.

8. There you get your beloved command prompt with full administrator privilege. Navigate to your system32 folder. Alright, you might be asking why not I throw in directly "Compmgmt.msc" here and reset the password. In fact, I've tried that. However the MMC just refuse to be started. Hence, move on.....

9. Using the same target "Magnify.exe", make a backup of the original copy beforehand (in case on one day you start to regret of having the door open at all times, you can easily revert back). To do this, simply rename the original "Magnify.exe" to "Magnify.bak". - ren Magnify.exe Magnify.bak

10. Make another copy of command prompt and name it as "Magnify.exe" so that it takes the roles on the original "Magnify.exe". - copy cmd.exe Magnify.bak

11. Do a final checking, ok it's there. Shut off everything you can see and reboot your computer.

12. This time, just boot into your windows straight.

13. When your computer are ready, click on the "Ease of Access" button and says "Hell yea, I am accessing this computer with ease".

14. Enable the magnify option, and click OK. Walla... the powerful command prompt is there.

15. Till this steps, I'm sure most of you know what to do next. For those who still have no idea what to do next, here is the magic begin. Open up the Computer Management console via command prompt. - compmgmt.msc

16. Just follow back the password reset routine, expand the tree on the left, expand "Local Users and Groups", click on "Users", select the user you want to ~~hack~~ have the password reset, right click on it and select "Set Password".

17. Click "Proceed" if prompted, and proceed to reset the password.

18. Click on "Ok" and you're done.

Configure Shadow Copy size for Windows Vista

Wonder why the Windows Vista system taking so much of space in your system drive? Well there are many things which can easily take up your precious space in your hard drive. Windows Vista new features, Vista search and also the backup mechanism so called System Resotre, and Shadow Copies are the main culprit in such issues.

Well we can choose to limit which folder or drive to have the Vista search features so that it minimize the indexing size, and we can also turn off System Restore easily if you don't really play with new drivers or applications everyday. Hence in my opinion it's extremely safe even without the System Restore. Shadow Copies is a very good and cool features which provided by Windows Vista. Imaging one day, you accidentally deletes a file or edited a file which you don't intended to, Shadow Copy can easily restore the files back in just a blink.

However, Shadow Copies actually occupied very large of hard disk space. In my scenario, I have a 40GB hard disk parition for Windows Vista alone, and Windows Vista "intelligently" reserve 15% of my hard disk space for this purpose. In another words, it's whopping 6GB of space.

Right click on my C:\ drive and navigate to properties, proceed to Previous Version tab, you can see that there is a long list of C:\ drive being "Shadow Copied". Initially I thought of deleting the old Shadow which I think I won't be needing it. However I realised that it doesn't not even have an option to do that.

Well... not to say that it donesn't have any option at all. Windows Vista actually do comes with a very good tools to configure the resize the amount of space that reserved Shadow Copy. This tools is called as VSSAdmin. Fire up this tools via command prompt under administrative privileges, and type vssadmin.

To see how much space that Windows Vista actually allocated for the Shadow Copies, key in "vssadmin list shadowstorage" in the command prompt.

You can actually resize the amount of space allocated for Shadow Copies via vssadmin too. For example now, I want to resize my shadow copies size to only 3GB instead of 6GB, just key in "vssadmin resize shadowstorage /for=C: /on=C: /maxsize=3GB" and immediately the older Shadow Copy will be deleted and release quite an amount of hard disk space.

Boring weekend

Well it is a boring Saturday, and there is no plans in my mind on what should I do. Wake up at 10am in the morning, finished up few episode of HK drama, and went out for lunch after awhile. After back from lunch, again jump into the boring mode. Looking at my dusty table fan, I decides to give the fan a good bath. See the pictures below and you'll know how dusty it is. :P

And finally it regains it's clean look.

After cleaning the fan, tidy up my bedroom, cleans my toilet, and also my computer mouse, it was already 4pm. Resumes my HK drama, and waiting for my dinner after that. That's it for the whole day. In the end, my housemates and I sat down together and plan for tomorrow, Sunday programme. We decides for a one day trip to Melaka. :P

Goodbye 932B-Plus, and Welcome T220

Yesterday my dad told me that his monitor at home was broke down so without hesitation, I offered my 1year old Samsung 932B Plus to my dad. This morning I went to Lowyat Plaza and my target was 22" Samsung monitor. As I went into the Samsung showroom, Samsung T220 draws my attention to it. The design was nice and it comes with specially designed touch-sensitive power button. However it was in dark rose color, which doesn't gain much of my interest. Just when I plan to gave up, I saw a blue color T220 in the catalogue, so I asked for the salesgirl if they have any blue color unit of T220. Too bad she told that it was out of stock and they have no idea when would it be restocked. Without giving up my hope, I walk around Lowyat and finally saw that Thundermatch in Level4 has few units left. Happily I bought this new baby home. :)

Leopard in to a Non-Apple Computer? - Part3

Having only one hard disk detected in my mac was somehow irritating as I need to move out some of my favourite files from the "missing" hard disk to the "visible" hard disk in Windows before I could access it from my Mac. I've been figuring on this for around 2 days and I've done enough google'ing yet I found no solutions on this yet. However on the 3rd days, I found out a clue when I take a look on my Hardware Properties in my Windows Vista. This is the possible culprit :
Hard disk 1 - Location 0 (Channel 0, Target 0, Lun 0) and
Hard disk 2 - Location 0 (Channel 0, Target 0, Lun 0) too while
Optical Drive - Location 0 (Channel 1, Target 0, Lun 0).

Hence obviously there is some problem with the channel as it was not suppose to have 2 drive plugged in the same channel. By taking out my computer's casing and take a look on my mainboard, it has 3 pairs of SATA interface where 2 pairs are powered by Intel ACHI8, and a pair of Gigabyte own interface. By plugging only one device to each pair of the SATA interface, it corrects up the Channel listing. Reboot the computer and logged onto my Mac, yes... it shows up both of my hard disk and also optical drive living happily with each other.

Hard disk issue solved, however LAN interface was not running as expected. Did a google and it was solved by following this guide here.

After the LAN was up and running, WiFi is the next item on the list. This really makes me smack my head as I was pairing up hardwares to make sure that it was able to run in Mac, however I forgot to choose a Mac compatible WiFi adapter. I got a Prolink WG2000R WiFi adapter which I have no idea what chipset it was using, so the only thing I can do is guess. After a few guessing which makes me almost gave up and settle down with cables, the RaLink driver works like charm. I followed the guide in the InsanelyMac forum which explains on how to makes RaLink WiFi adapter works proerply in Mac and now I got the WiFi works in my Mac.

Problems solved. This is my Mac screen caps.. :)

Annoying System Beep Sound

Few weeks ago, I was working on one of the SCCM issues and I was reading the execmgr.log using Trace32.exe. Annoyingly each time I select/highlight a row in the logs, the system speaker would starts beeping.

Well there are several methods to solve a problem actually. In few years back, I might have the idea of disabling the system speaker, or just open up the CPU and unplug the cord which connecting from the machine’s mainboard with speakers. However this time, I would spend some time on it and find out what really causing the system speaker to beep. The tools that I would be using are Process Monitor from SysInternal.

From the Procmon trace, it shows that trace32.exe was anxiously searching for a wav file which having an improper name. Now we knew that the System Beep was triggered as Windows having issue on finding a proper *.wav file when an event was triggered. This raised another question, “What event was triggered? And where it defines the wav file to be played?”. Looking back to the Process Monitor, it actually point me to HKey_User\[UserSID]\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\Default\CCCSelect\.current . Upon open up the keys using Registry Editor (Regedit), it clearly shows that the key carries some weird ASCII values in the Data field. By delete the value from the specified key, it actually solves my issue. Now no more annoying beep sounds from system speakers anymore. :)

Leopard in to a Non-Apple Computer? - Part2

Continue from my previous post.... Slot the IATKOS dvd into my optical bay, and let's have fun. Installation of the OSX actually is rather straight forward, and it takes me about 15mins - 20mins with my machine. A quick walk in Google brings me to the OSX installation guide which is here.

Basically my first attempt actually failed as it keeps on looping in the mac account settings page. Looking into Google, it tells me that I would need to unplug or disconnect any network devices or disable LAN in BIOS.

Well the trick doesn't work at first as it brings me to a deadly "Kernal Panic REBOOT" screen. No matter how many times I reboot my machine, I end up on the same deadly screen.

Holding my breath, I reformat my Mac Volume and start everything over again. This time, I excluded almost most of the items in installation option and yes, I managed to get back the Mac OSX welcome screen. The loop starts again from Mac OSX welcome screen to mac account setup wizard. I reboot my machine and reconfigure my BIOS again, and this time it works. I finally get into the MAC.

Everything is cool however there are several issues with my MAC.
1. First of all, it only detects one of my Hard drive instead of both of it.
2. Second, neither my NIC nor WLAN/WiFi Adapter being recognized properly.
3. Third, booting up Mac OSX tooks quite a long time compared to Vista.

In Part3, I would tells you how I solve 3 of these issues. Stay tuned. ;)

Leopard in to a Non-Apple Computer?

As most of us know that in order to run a Macintosh/Apple OS, you would need to buy a Mac from Apple or add some amount to Job Steve's pocket. However with the help of a developer and geek, it actually enables you to install Mac right on your standard pc. Honestly speaking, with the migration of Mac from PowerPC platform to Intel platform, the idea of running Mac OS in PC gets much more simpler.

I bought my computer last year, and what I was trying to do is to make my setup as close as the real Mac. Due to the budget constrains, it might not be 100% identical with the real Mac of course. This is the specifications of my computer :

Processors : Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo E6600 - 2.4GHz
Mainboard : Gigabyte 965P - DS3 (Intel 965 Chipsets)
Ram Module : 2GB DDR2 667MHz
Graphic : Colorful - ATi X1950 with 256MB memory and 256bit.
Optical : LG DVD writer (SATA)
Hard Drive : Western Digital SATA WD2500KS + WD6400AAKS

The other parts which I didn't mentioned here was not important as it would support anyway.

This is what happen when the Apartment's Management gets hungry

Yesterday afternoon around 12pm, My housemate messaged me and informed me that my car was clamped. The most furious thing is that my car was parked at the correct bays, which is reserved for my unit, so by any means they shouldn't clamp my wheels. Sound's ridiculous isn't it?

Of course in order to release my clamp, I went to talk to the staff in the management office. I was clamped with the reason of no apartment stickers was sticked on my windscreen. First of all there is no single notice stated that vehicles without stickers will be clamped, and the worse thing is that they demand RM50 from me in order to release the clamp.

It really boils up my blood, and they thought that they are the king in this apartment. Luckily the supervisor of the security guards know me, and he open up the clamp for me. Else I would rather pay locksmith to open this thing than giving those idiots RM50. They find all ways to earn our money and finding all the lame excuse for it. Sigh.... if you want to buy/rent an apartment in future, do some research on the apartment's management.

Malaysia International Fireworks Competition is back

I guess most of us would still remember that last year, Malaysia had the International Fireworks Competition at Putrajaya Convention Centre in conjunction of Malaysia 50th National Day during the month of August. Good News to all is, it's back. The event would be started off on August 12, 2008 (Tuesday) which kickstarts by Team Malaysia. Unlike last year, there would be no competition being held on the 31st August. Hence I'm not sure if there would be any firework display on National Day or not. Also namely International Firework competition, from the list in their official webpage, there is only 4 countries that would be participating this competition including Malaysia. These are the schedules of the competition for this year :

Putting the event apart, I would like to put some comment on the MIFC official webpage. I have no idea who design the page, and I am very confident that even college student can come out with better web design than them.

Obviously I've selected for HTML navigation (because I doubt they make good flash page from the first impression of the intro page) but I still get some flash content in the sites for retrieving informaiton.

It's so unbelievable that it can be so dull, unprofessional and I wonder if the webpage manage to tell the world "Hey, we are good in design, webpage, and I.T., please pour your resources to our cybercity - Cyberjaya".

New Member For My PC

I've added another two member for my personal computer. Initialy I just plan to buy a 500GB hard disk, however the Lowyat.Net seller zhen^wei told me that the particular model which I interested left only 640GB version. Well the price difference between 500GB and 640GB was RM40. After a short calculation, I told myself "Why not, there is no harm to get the 640GB since I got 140GB extra space". Well it actually sized almost 600GB when I plugged into my PC, because 640GB was estimated size without taking allocation table and bytes loss during bits conversion.

Besides a Hard Disk, I got myself a 5megapixel webcam for testing purpose too. The webcam comes with 2 extra bright led serves as extra light source when you are in dark condition. The brightness can be adjusted too. One thing good about this webcam was it supports plug and play where you can directly plug it into your Windows Vista box and it runs straight away without needing you to find the driver.

Secret Recipe Durian Durian Cake is Back

Just now, Nico and I went for dinner at Equine Park and decided to take a walk at Jusco there. Our main motive is to spend away all the Jusco vouchers that I've collected all year long from various of events organized by my company. After finish shopping there, we buy some cakes home for desert. We walked into Secret Recipe and I was scratching my head what cake should I buy as most of the cakes there are cheese cake. Then suddenly I saw a yellow cake which look cheezy, but when I looked closer, it was actually the limited time durian cake called "Durian Durian". The first question which came across my mind was "is that contains cheese?". Then Nico asked the salesgirl if the cake contains cheese. The salesgirl give us a strange look and replied "No!". Haha.. Lucky me.. Straight away I bought a slice of that and give it a try.

When we open the typical red-box that house the slice of cake, the durian aroma was pretty nice. It looks abit watery and I thought that it's sure ran out of the original taste. However when I take a bite, the durian taste is pretty strong as if you take a bite of durian and a bite of cake. It was really nice and is worth to try that piece of cake again. Personally give the cake 4.8 out of 5. :)

.NET Mamak @ KLCC

Yes I know is such a long time ever since I wrote something here. Since I have a little time right now, here I am. Sounds busy huh? You bet..~! :P

Early morning yesterday, my colleges and I went for the .NET Mamak session at Microsoft Auditorium which located at 29th floor of KLCC Tower 2. Well throughout these 5years in KL, honestly I had never been to the KLCC Tower. We get lost our way where we went up to 41st floor, then to 36th floor, then back to 40th floor, then down to ground floor and finally 29th floor. Anyway cut the craps on the KLCC things and back to the main topic, .NET Mamak session which organized by Microsoft was pretty up to my expectation. :) The session kicked start with introduction of .Net Framework 3.5, and mostly the speakers focused on Windows Presentation Foundation which is nothing new to frequent .NET event participants, I believed. That doesn't really caught much of my attention.

On the session 2 and 3, the speakers introduced and explained some of the tools which is really cool such as the Windows Mobile 6 SDK where it really makes development of Pocket PC application a breeze. Tools like "Cellular Emulator" and "FakeGPS" enables the Pocket PC emulators to receive Calls, Texting, 3G Connections and even GPS. Yea it's cool. I think is time for me to get one and play around with it (provided that I have time to do that). For more information, visit :

Creating backdoor for your Windows Vista

Recently my colleague shown me an article about creating a backdoor for Windows Vista and after we tried it out, it was pretty cool and I would like to share with you guys. What we gonna achieve is to create a backdoor so that we can access almost anything in the computer includes those operations that requires UAC, reset/changing admin password and etc without needing you to logon as an authenticate user. Sounds cool?

The overview of the whole thing is that by replace some of the features in Ease of Access provided by Windows Vista, we can actually brings up the command prompt console in the CAD (Ctrl+Alt+Del) Screen.

To achieve this, first you would need to logon as an administrator or whoever that has sufficient privileges to play with the Windows files. After you logon, now starts to gets your hand dirty. I am using a Windows 2008 beta Virtual PC Image for demo as I don't want to mess up with my machine.

Open up your windows explorer, navigate to C:\Windows\System32, and when you open up the properties for magnify.exe, it shows that TrustedInstaller own the file and has the rights to modify it.

In order for you to have the rights to change the file, simply open your command prompt and pump in these command :

takeown /f magnify.exe

This will update the ownership of the file to your account. Next followed by this command :

cacls magnify.exe /g administrator:f

This will grant full access to "administrator" account for magnify.exe. In case you are not running as administrator, you can grant to your current user account by changing the "administrator" to whatever name that your current user account was. After you pump in this command, you will usually prompted with a confirmation, type Y for yes to proceed. Now you hold full permission on magnify.exe, you can proceed to change the file. As for safety reasons, I would suggest that you rename the original magnify.exe instead of replacing it. For eg, type in this command:

rename magnify.exe magnify.bak

which basically will update magnify.exe to magnify.bak.

After done with the command, just copy the original cmd.exe and paste it on the same directory. You should be able to see something like "cmd - copy.exe". Just rename the copy to "magnify.exe" and logoff.

To see the wonders, simply click on the Ease of Access button at the CAD screen, and check on the Magnify option, a command prompt would be prompted out right after you click on the OK button. To double confirm you are running on what kind of user account, you can type on the following command :

whoami /user

You can also enter the GUI mode by pump in the explorer.exe command at the command prompt. The only limitations of this account is you have to depends on the command prompt mode as Windows Explorer wouldn't open when you try to trigger it by double click on My Computer icon.

I am back and Connected!

Streamyx Combo 1MB package is what I am getting after many considerations. The process of getting the phone line installed, and getting streamyx up and running in my new place is quite ease. I took 2 trips to TM building located at Cyberjaya, first time for applying the phone line and second time to take the modem since I opted for self installation. Those who interested, this is for your information... All I have to pay was :
RM75 for registration fees (Streamyx Combo)
RM10 for stamp duty
RM40 for phone line installation
so in total was RM125.

At last I choosen to have this duo combinations - Billion ADSL Modem + Netgear WGR614 Wireless Router + Switch due to budget constraints. All-in-one devices (ADSL Modem + Wireless Router + Switch) cost RM120 more than the one without modem functionality. :S

Configuring both of the device was pretty easy as you would hardly goes wrong with the wizard provided by both the modem and the router.

At last, I am connected... yeay... :)

Boss wedding reception

Came to KL since 2003, which is 5 years ago, and I've been planning to spare some time for myself to have a visit to the tallest tower in Malaysia, the KL Tower. Actually, I've never been to a tower before. Thanks to my boss I had an opportunity to visit KL Tower for free (Well.. exclude the red packet for the new weds) as his wedding reception for KL was held in that tower.

As soon as we reach on top of Bukit Nenas (which is where KL Tower was built on top of it), we were busy running around and taking pictures like a tourist who never see a KL Tower before. :D

When we reach on the top, which is the reception hall, we were still busy taking pictures. Of course we behave ourself during the dinner as we don't want to miss out the good food.

After the ceremony ends, we start to run around and taking pictures again. You must be wondering since we kept on taking pictures, but I only publish a few pictures here. I can only tell you that my Sony Ericsson P1i can't perform well during night time, so can't expect much from that. :D

Commuters forced to use Touch N Go cards

For those who are commutes through RapidKL public transport would be aware of the surprise change made by RapidKL. As usual RapidKL love to make some surprise changes and though they did provide a notice/memo before changes took place, but usually it happens few days before changes commited. Commuters who don't often pay attention to the tiny unattractive white paper from RapidKL would be caught in real surprise most of the time. Commuters that does not use RapidKL daily (eg: weekly, or few times a month) falls into the victim list too. I've been commutes for almost 3 years in KL city, and the surprise I got from them include :
1. Sudden change of bus routes, which either re-routed or route has been cancelled.
2. Out of sudden, Touch N Go cards was not supported/not accepted.
3. Change of bus schedule.

This month, they gave us another brand new surprise. RapidKL has stopped selling SEPADU (Alliance) and SEMUA (All) tickets manually. The only way to get this ticket is by using Touch N Go for the transaction. This eventually might be replacing all manual tickets available. Thus Touch N Go is the only way to travel. Well this might be a very good idea for promoting the convenience of using the Touch N Go card while travel. However you might need to think again. As per current infrastructure, reloading your Touch N Go card is not an easy task. First, not ALL LRT stations has the service of reloading your Touch N Go card. Second, even if you managed to find the LRT stations that provide such service, they are not available for all times. Third, Touch N Go frequently out of service for a long period. Fourth, if you only commutes in bus instead of lrt, hell you have to purposely go LRT stations or locate a Maybank ATM that supports Touch N Go reload.

Mobile blogging using P1i

Now you can blog using your Sony Ericsson P1i easily. It actually connect back to the Blogger server via WiFi connections or your mobile 3G/EDGE/GPRS* operator connection.

I had written a pretty simple guide below to get the blogger application in your phone.

First of all you would have to enable your WiFi, connect it to an access point, then launch your internet browser. If you didn't change or update bookmarks for your Opera, Sony Ericsson homepage should be opened by default. You can also get to the page by hitting http://wap.sony-ericsson.com/ in your mobile browser.

Scroll down of the page

Select Software

Scroll and navigate for Blogger

Click download to download the installer to your devices.

Click Accept to download the installer and proceed.

Wait for the download to be completed and click View to install.

Click Open to proceed.

Click Install to proceed and select the storage location that you desired.

After installation completed, you can find the shortcut of the application in Tools folder.

Now you can start blogging :).

However I still can't managed to publish the post due to some configurations need to be made in my router.

Program Compatibility Assistant with UAC monster

I better blog this down before I forgot the solution for this again. Today after I came back from JB, I happily open up my internet browser from my start menu. Everything startup as usual, and then suddenly my browser froze, and there you see the most friendly invention that Windows Vista has included. (Alrite I have to take apple quicktime control panel as example as I have no idea on how to crash my Internet Browser for the second time)

Of course as usual you would says that "Alrite, use the recomended settings to solve my problem" and it comes up with the most familar User Access Control Prompt. Click on "Continue" to move on and my browser was shutted down. Hence I open up my browser again, and guess what... From this point onwards, I had been prompted for UAC each time I open my Internet Browser. Obviously problem has come. Is all fine to click the "Continue" button on the UAC prompt each time it appears in order to use my browser. However if you are familar with UAC, you would know that it means that my Internet Browser would have full administrator token and happily strolling on the internet. Damn risky..

Well the lucky part is that I remembered that there is a way to revert back the settings. The unlucky part is I have clean forgotten which registry keys are keeping my browser run as administrator. Google would not be the best solution as I don't know how to put it as a keyword. LOL... After hanging around on the HKey_Local_Machine registry hive, I decided to call my colleague (Kah Fei) for help. He advised me to look around in the Windows NT registry key, and indeed within a few seconds, I found it.

It was actually hidden in HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers. Remove the value which contains the path of your program and that's it. No more UAC prompt.

Hope it helps you if you encounter the same thing in future. :)

VivoCity @ Singapore

Just went back from Singapore today as we went to visit our relatives over there. We are stuck in the traffic jam while we are going to to Singapore as most of the people are rushing out as most of them starts to work on tomorrow.

After visits my aunt house, we decided to go Vivo City for a walk, Since many people says that Vivo City was a great place to shop. As today is weekend, there are surely many people there, and my aunt place was just opposite the MRT stations, so we go there by taking public transport. I know I am bit out of date as this is my first time visit Vivo City though it was there quite a long time already.

MRT is what they call for the commuters in Singapore, just like LRT in KL. Buying ticket for the commuters was pretty easy there as you can buy tickets for other commuter service as well. Imaging you in KL and you travel between Rapid KL Kelana Jaya Line to Ampang Line and monorail, you only need to buy ticket once. Commuter service in Singapore was well linked too as all was inter-connected, unlike in KL, you would need to walk for certain distance to reach stations of the other lines.

After taking MRT from Admiralty to Dhoby Ghaut, then to Outram Park, more than 1 hour rides, we finally reached our destination. Taking a few rounds in Vivo City, actually for me it was just a typical shopping mall with many branded shops. Just like The Gardens or Pavilion in KL. The only special part of the mall was the park on the roof of the shopping complex. At a glance you can see the ports and sentosa island is just opposite the sea. Future casino (WIP) can be seen too... :P

I stop there and takes some pictures until it was getting late. LOL...

Happy Chinese New Year

Yea.... is Chinese New Year again. Before that, wish you guys Happy Chinese New Year first. I had to agree that time really fly fast. I still remember that last year, I decided to stay at Johor Bahru permanantly and work in Singapore. However I currently I still stay and works in KL. Sigh... Next Chinese New Year, I guess I'll be still running on the same place.

Actually today is another special day for me and Nico as we have gone through a complete year already. Woohooo... it is not an easy journey for us actually as we've been through quite lots of things. Our character which is very different from each other had creates lots of bumps in our one year journey. However we managed to get through of this, and I am really happy of that. Hopes that we can go through another year, decades, or even century. :)

Lazy Day to begin a Lazy Week

Monday, Feb 5, 2008.... This is the first day of the week for weekdays, and yet I felt so tired and lazy to work. Is that a sign of demotivation? Perhaps... Office was quite empty today as most of the people off back to their hometown for Chinese New Year holiday. I am going back to JB on this wednesday, hence Monday and Tuesday was still my working days. Wondered why I am so hardworking? The answer would be $. I would not get paid if I off for even one days. In another words, No work No pay. Some of my colleagues bought their Sony Play Station Portable for a great deal of RM795. I wish I could join them so much honestly. Too bad I don't have money for that.

Aih.. besides feeling lazy, there are many things that needs to be worried about for me. Thinking about the plan of how to spend my Chinese New Year without getting bored, finding more money for this month, finding another room/house as my rental contract going to end very soon and I have no thoughts of continuing it.

Sigh~~~... JB... I am coming...

Have you guys ever heard of Microsoft BOB? I doubt so as it was not even officially released to the market. Alrite, what's so special about Microsoft BOB? Hmm... a quick read on the article published in Wikipedia, this is what Microsoft BOB:

Alrite, lets put in Layman's term, Microsoft BOB was actually a software that let's you to have a very special user interface on your desktop. Imagine that you have this study/living room picture on your desktop, where you can see there's picture hanging on the wall, address boos on the table, and etc. Each of it are interactable where it launches applications when you clicked on it. You can also customize the items in there, for example hanging a painting of Mona Lisa on the wall can actually brings you the Adobe Photoshop application when the painting was clicked. When you right click on the painting, it actually allows you to resize the painting in order to fits the room's picture. Sounds cool?

Looking at the history of Microsoft BOB, it was actually developed years ago since Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 era. However due to the negative response that they received from various party, Microsoft BOB was terminated even before Windows 98 released. Although it was terminated, it doesn't really dies. Some of it's member managed to survive and sneaked into Windows XP. Who? If you still remember the yellow dog called "Rover" when you launch Windows XP search page, it was one of the member in Microsoft BOB.

Alrite, I know most of you would ask the next question, where to get a copy of Microsoft BOB? Google would be the best answer, as it was illegal to distribute Microsoft BOB openly. Well it's targetted platform was Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. I've tested it on Windows XP, it works fine without any issue, however it refuse to start in Windows Server 2008,(Longhorn server) due to Microsoft BOB dependency on some 16-Bits component. It was reported fail to runs in Vista too, however some of the people managed to get it runs in Windows Vista (Quick search on Youtube video tells that).

P1i First Review

After playing this baby for few days, I finally decides to sit down and write a proper review of it. Let's start with outer look of this baby. Well I can say that compared to my previous Nokia N70, P1i design was more classy and it doesn't have the cheap look (or should I say plastic look?). It appears to be more solid than Nokia N70. The only reason that I can find is that you can always change the housing of Nokia N70, but Sony Ericsson P1i, you can't. That's also one of the pain as you have to be very careful on P1i in order not to leave any permanent scars or marks on it. P1i has a fine brushed surface on its front which makes the whole phone appears elegant. The bad thing about this was the brushed surface actually very fragile to scratches. The brushed surface was actually very thin, and once it was scratched, what's left is only the black color which is the original plastic surface under the brushed surface. Besides the brushed surface, another fragile component was the chromed camera shutter button. The chrome will starts to fall off if you use the button too often. This is bad as the camera button of N70 was chromed too, but I had used it for almost 2years, it still in perfect condition.

Putting the outer shell aside, in terms of hardware of course P1i is way better than Nokia N70. P1i was not even half year since it was launched compared to N70 which was launched several years ago. It has a pretty decent 3.2 Megapixel camera that comes with auto focus, and the speaker able to produce quite a clear sound. The battery was quite strong compared to Nokia N70, as with my normal usage, 1 or 2 calls, medium amount of texting (around 50), few minutes of WiFi usage, the battery last me for 2days. That was pretty good, as my Nokia N70 average serves me around 1.5days before it gone flat. As for the key layout, I was getting hard time on typing using P1i rockers QWERTY keyboard. I would prefer the traditional keypad layout just like W960i. Till today, I still thought that I can just typing using the numbers key. Eg: 228 for CAT.

As for the software and the core Operating System, P1i uses Symbian UIQ3 and comparing to Nokia N70 S60 v2 platform, for me it's quite similar in terms of the way to get application installed. As in UIQ platform, it has the touch screen features, you have to do most of the things on screen instead of hitting the keys in the keypad. I still haven't fully suit myself into that kind of environment yet honestly. One simple example would be in S60 platform, we can do multiselection by holding the pen button down and choose what to select through the d-pad. However in UIQ, there is no pen button nor the D-pad. Furthermore the checkbox of the UIQ was really small so it test your aiming skills as well when you try to do multiselection.

One major things that turn off P1i as a great device was the UIQ3 itself. This OS has been put on market more than 1 year ago if I've not mistaken. However application development for this platform seems to be slow and unsuccessful. The best example would be Adobe Flashlite, which it was still not available for UIQ3 up till today. This makes P1i crippled to render flash files which embedded on the webpage even though P1i has the WiFi connection capability. It's quite annoying to see people that using Nokia N80 a 2 years old phone streaming youtube and yet a few months old P1i doesn't capable of doing that. We also know that P1i has an infrared port, where it can be used as universal remote control for house appliances such as aircond or television. However up till today, P1i still can't do that due to inavailability of such application that support UIQ3. There are more examples that you can find where great applications only developed for S60 but not for UIQ3.

That's my first review on P1i. I will write into more details on the review when I have more time. J

Kopitiam Station @ Berjaya Times Square

I seldom do review for restaurant or coffee shop but this outlet managed to make me sit down and write a real nice review on them. Alrite, this evening Nico and I went to this outlet for a late lunch. Initially we wanted to had our lunch at Wong Kok Tea house, but we decided to try the other outlet. So we end up in Kopitiam Station.

Well, we sat on the table #1, and there is a wireless service call button which you can call for the waiter when you need their service. We are really hungry at that moment, so the moment we sat down, we press the call for service. We waited there patiently for about 1 minute however there is no waiter approching us. We thought that maybe they forgot about the call or too busy at the moment, so we call once again. However it still the same, so we just shout for the waiter to come here. To my surprise the waitress come here empty handed even though the menu was just right beside her. Even a primary school kid knows that we wanted to order for something. Alright, fine.. we calm down and ask for the menu politely. Then it takes her 1 more mintues to get the damn menu which is just few steps away.

After we get the menu, and we settled with the food we want we press the call again in order for us to order the food. As usual, no one was entertaining us. I've seen the waiter and waitress was busy walking here and there and assemble at the counter as if they were very busy. In fact at that time there was only a few table of customers. Is really annoying, and finally another waitress came and took our order.

Again we waited for a long time in order for our food to come. The waiter who serves our drinks accidentally drop the straw on the floor. Then he apologize and never came back, which I thought he would get another straw for us. What the..... Ok.. I asked another waiter for a new straw and the food finally come. Guess what? the waitress put the food and goes away. That's it. We waited for few minutes and no one gives us the fork and spoon. What? They expect me to eat tomyam using my hand? calm down and eat our food. The food was not really nice and for me, I felt that mamak stall at the road side taste even better than that. Maybe it was due to the service they provide, not really the food's fault.

Then we still naively believe that actually the button still serves it purpose, and we press it in order to call for bill. I guess you guys know what happen next right? Ya.. we waited for around 5-10minutes, there is no waiter or waitress walk to our place. Then out of no choice, we have to shout for the waiter to bill. The waiter told us to wait and he walks away. Again never comes back, so we have to shout for waiter again, and another waiter comes. We ask for the bill again, and he says ok then walk away. It takes them more than 5minutes to generate the damn bill and takes another 5minutes to produce the change back to us.

What a great outlet. For me I would never ever go to the outlet again and for you, is up to you to decide whether you still prefer to give them a visit after reading my review.

Sony Ericsson P1i

Now my Nokia N70 was gone, and I am kinda miss it. It serves me real well although it went to hospital twice, and hang up for several occasion. Alrite, I know I've to move on as the fact that N70 was gone. It's hard for me to decide among phone that available in market. I know that the phone that I gonna to get was definately not Nokia anymore. Not because Nokia is bad, is just that none of the Nokia phones has attracted me recently. Though Nokia N95 was pretty cool and pack with real good features, however I still don't like it as it was pretty big in size.

Well for Sony Ericsson, I was actually eyeing for W810i for such a long time already. Hmm.. people asked me why I would prefer W810i instead of some bombastic walkman series phone. Well the answer would be, I like the design of W810i and it actually has the basic features of walkman phone and cybershot phone. Why? Just find me a phone that has walkman and camera with autofocus + marco mode. The answer would be W800i and W810i. Is one of the old model and actually the price was still above RM600 which is higher than the margin that I've set for a W810i.

The second phone would be K810i. Well it has a nice design with the cute circle keypad, a 3.2 Megapixel Cybershot camera with autofocus and marco of course. The music capability was up to the standard and I can say that it's better if not par with W810i. The things that I don't like about this phone is the camera cover was simply as ugly as what in K800i. Well that's the minor thing of course. The main thing that turn me off was the price. It priced at RM850 for a new sets with 64MB M2 bundled. If I want to get an 1GB M2 on top of that, the price would be almost RM1k. For me that's expensive for a phone that priced on that as with the price, I would rather go for Nokia N-Series which at least it was a smartphone.

The last phone which will comes into my consideration was Sony Ericsson P1i. It has all the cool factors that W810i and K810 has, and on top of that it was a smartphone with touchscreen. The reason I place this phone at the bottom of my consideration was this baby is really extremely expensive. The cheapest was RM1.3k for this and it comes with 512MB of M2 memory card.

As I surfing on the lowyat.net forum, I found out that actually somebody wanted to sell off his P1i, and it was the original sets (Thorus warranty). As we know Thorus sets comes with 1GB M2, and priced at RM2k. I was just trying my luck on that and I offerred a really low price for the sets. Well the price was just a little bit more than a new K810i. Upon considerations, well I get a 1GB M2 memory card and Thorus warranty, it is worthwhile compared to K810.

Finally I got a P1i instead of W810i and K810. :) I will make my personal review on this phone after I explore it for few days. So stay tuned.

My N70 was gone

I was planned to use this phone for about 2 years before I decides to change a new one. However that bugger theif, spoilt my plan and I was now headache to think on what phone should I buy.

Alrite this is how it was happened:

Yesterday, Nico and I was out to Sg Wang to buy some clothes for coming Chinese New Year. As we walked out of the mall, the sky already turned dark which I think it was around 7pm so we decided to return back to home. We took a City (Bandar) Rapid KL bus from Bukit Bintang to Pasar Seni, and then walked to Pasaramakota where the Rapid KL bus interchange located. We would need to take U88 in order to back to Pelangi Damansara there, however the bus did not appeared on schedule.

After a long wait, finally U88 appears and the crowds started to squeeze one another in order to get up on the bus. I knew most people get pick pocket'ed during this situations, so I told Nico to be careful with her things. Well at the same time I was taking care of my belongings too and at that moment my phone was still in my pocket. However those people there are pushing one another, and I finally get through of the crowd and went on board of the bus. That is the moment I realized that my phone was gone.

They are really skilled, and I really took my hats off for that damn theif. They managed to sense where my phone located and pick it out without anybody aware of it. I didn't even ever took my phone out since I was at Sg. Wang.

Now my N70 was gone. Is not just a phone. N70 is my

and of course my Contacts, SMS'es, Photo's, Video's which stored in the memory card, and my SIM cards. It just sux.

So who to blame? My Luck? Forget about it. Even if I lodge a police report, I guess they would just proudly says "Biasa LAH" (Means "it's common" in malay language) and no action taken.

The Invasion

Have you ever wondered what happens if everyone was infected by the flu brought by aliens? Well this movie called, "The Invasion" was about a virus which brought by a NASA space shuttle which crashed into the earth. People labelled the virus as a kind of flu as they had not encountered the virus before. As usual, people who was infected by the virus would be "Alienated" like the other movie. However the unique of the movie was, people who are infected by the virus, people (or should I say alien?) does not act more violence but instead people turns from violence to gentle. This is the things that makes people scared as those who are infected, they are emotionless, and they would try their best to get the other infected. Besides that, in this movie, you would not see any aliens appears, you won't see any scenes where human being tries to battle with the aliens.

In my opinion, this movie was nice but for the ending, it was too fast. This is because the whole movie was telling about Nicole Kidman trying to get her son rescued and get to the safe point, but they didn't really tell how people overcome it and the efforts to restore their normal life. This is a little bit of disappoinment. Anyway this movie would not makes you feel regret to spend hours to watch it.

Meet F.I.R @ Arena of Stars, Genting Highland

As I mentioned earlier, we get a chance to join the F.I.R. showcase during our trip at Genting Highland. It was held at Arena of Stars, Genting Highland. As it was free seats basis, so we went in around 7:45PM yet we get a very front seats.

In this showcase only 2 of the F.I.R. members present which is the couple Faye and Xing.

They are really a great band of chinese music industry. During the showcase, they sang four of their songs from their latest album (Love U.Thamine or 爱.歌姬) which is :

1. 月牙湾 (Crescent Bay)- their main debut, a very nice song.
2. 三个心愿 (3 Wishes)- is a duet songs between Faye and Ah Xing. Is kinda sweet actually.
3. Change - a song composed and sang by Faye herself.
4. 第十行星 (10th Planet) - a great hits songs and the lights went blackout at the middle of their performance. LOL.. they were just too hot to handle. In the end Faye sang it without the music. It turned out very nice too.

We managed to get their signature too, and very lucky the queue starts right beside the place we stand, so we are the first few person who get their signature. LOL..

Well for me, they are simply rocks... I love their songs ever since their first album up till now. They has a unique streams of music compared to the other chinese bands. Well Done F.I.R.. :)

Genting Highland Trip

Last saturday morning, Nico and I had to wake up early because we had actually planned a one-day trip to Genting Highland. From Cyberjaya to Genting Highland was actually quite far so we get up on 6:30am in order to reach the peak before 12PM.

7:15AM - We boarded on the local bus, Rapid KL (T429) from Cyberjaya to Putrajaya Sentral.

7:30AM - Reach Putrajaya Sentral and waited for few minutes before we could board on the bus which goes to KL City which is (E1).

8:10AM - We reached KL Sentral and as we're hungry, we went for McD for breakfast. Well as usual I would just take the Big Breakfast.

9:00AM - We thought that, ok it's time to get the tickets for bus to the hill, however when we reach the sales counter, it was already a long queue there. Sigh.. I should knew it earlier that surely many people would go up to Genting Highland during weekend. So to avoid the crowd, we decided to go Gombak and see if we managed to get an early ticket through Kelana Jaya line LRT.

9:45AM - We reached Gombak (Terminal Putra LRT Station) which is another place that has the shuttle bus service to Genting Highland skyway. To our surprise, there is a queue too. I am the 20++ people behind the queue. That's not too bad compared to KL Sentral.

10:45AM - We finally managed to buy the tickets. Yea.. the queue moved extremely slow. RM30.10 for two person's through and flow tickets which inclusive of Skyway. Expensive? I have no idea on that.

11:20AM - We boarded the shuttle bus to Genting and we reached Genting Skyway station at almost 12PM. I think should be around 30++ minutes, we reached the peak. I am not sure how long it actually takes, as I didn't really see the time.

We took almost half day to reach the peak from Cyberjaya. (TnT)

The food in Genting Highland was really expensive. A typical dumpling noodle or wanton noodle priced at RM12, and it only consist of 3 dumpling/wanton per serving. Luckily our food was sponsored by Annie. Hahaha... :P After the lunch, Annie went back to work, so Nico and I was walking around Genting Highland to take pictures. As Christmas Day was just passed, we managed to see some of the decorations which they had not removed. Nothing special but some of it was cute.

Christmas?

As I mentioned earlier, we actually planned for 1 day trip however when we roam around, there was a guy gave us tickets for F.I.R. Showcase @ Arena of Stars, 8PM. Hohoho.. since is free so we decided to take a look, and because of this we can't go back to Cyberjaya on the same day.

Luckily we managed to sold our return tickets away for RM16 and Nico's brother Yugene was there for company vacation, so we managed to overnight in his room. :D

We return back to KL on Sunday morning by taking Genting bus. We bought the ticket from First World Hotel bus station for RM5+ only. It was the direct shuttle from Genting Highland bus station to Titiwangsa LRT station. Well this is cheap, but the bus condition was worst than Rapid KL. LOL...

Dear all my friends,

Another year has passed. Well it wasn't really a long year for me as nothing really much had happened to me in year 2007. As I didn't really blogs on this year, there isn't much linked post here. This are the things which happened:

January

I've finally completed my final year project and was busy on my Final Year Exam.

February

Yeay.. Finally reached another milestones of my life where I've completed my studies for my higher education as I finished my final exams. These are where we record the moment on the day after the final examinations.

Found someone.

Finally made my new passport after it died for so many years. More than 5 years I think.

March

Got employed. Working in Shell I.T. International, at Cyberjaya. Hence I moved to Cyberjaya.

April & May

Too obsessed in work so there is nothing special happens during these period. (Real Reason : Connection sucks and infected by lazy virus)

June

I am officially Graduated. I mean convocation.

Finally bought my new PC after so many years. Powered by Intel Core 2 Duo, and running Windows Vista. Quite a number of software incompatibality issue. Sigh..

July

Nothing much on this month. Went for company dinner at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. First time see my colleagues in formal suits.

August

Nothing happen in this month actually. Live as usual, work, eat, sleep.

September

Get a chance to attend Microsoft Tech.Ed South East Asia. This trip is fully sponsered by my company. Well get to see many stuff and learn some cool technologies. I got lots of freebies such as ball pen. !-.- 30++ of it.

October

Went to Club Med @ Cherating, Pahang. It was a great trip. Again fully sponsored by my company.

November & December

Work, Eat, Sleep, as usual.

and that's how a year passed. Well I hope that in year 2008, I was able to advance my career, and hopefully everything went well and as good as, if not better than 2007. This wish same goes to all my dear friends.

Change file extension icon in Windows Vista

Do you remember how easy it is to change the icon of a file (eg: .jpg, .zip) in the previous build of Windows?

This is the option where you can find in Windows XP:

This is the folder option for Windows Vista:

In Windows Vista, the option was gone. Some might not even know that actually we still had the option of changing file type association in Windows Vista. To change the file type association in Windows Vista, just follow the simple steps below :
(Let say we want to change the default program to open a jpg file)

Method 1

1. Simply find a .jpg file, and right click on the .jpg file.

2. Go to Open With > Choose Default Program.. .

3. You would see a windows popup like this.

4. Make sure that the option Always use the selected program to open this kind of file was checked.

5. Just click OK when you are done.

That's it. Quick and Easy. If you don't like this method, and you want to directly change the default program for multiple extension, actually there is a similar interface like what you had in Windows XP.

Method 2

1. Open up the Control Panel by go to Start > Control Panel.

2. Select and open Default Programs.

3. Select Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program.

There you go. A similar interface that you used to had in Windows XP. Now, what's missing from the menu? For those that always want to customize the file type icon like me, you would sure aware that there is no more option for you do it.

Don't worry, Windows Registry Editor holds most of the secret. For those who are familar with Windows, they would know that Regedit always has a way out. Yup cut off the crap, lets get hands dirty.

(I won't use .jpg as example as I doubt you will change the icon of .jpg. This is because Windows Vista has a live preview features for most of the image type. You wouldn't want to lost it right? So lets says we want to change the icon of .zip file this time.)

1. Make sure you have your icon file ready, in this scenario i use (myZip.ico) stored in (D:\MyIcon).

2. Open up Start, type "regedit" in the search field, and of course press Enter.

3. Expand your HKey_Classes_Root hive, and find ".zip" key.

4. Read the value stored in "default". By default it should be "CompressedFolder" and it might be vary if your .zip file is opened using Winzip or Winrar.

5. Move on using my scenario, I should find "CompressedFolder" key in the same path.

6. Expand the key, and you would find "DefaultIcon" subkey.

7. Just change the value of Default to where your icon was stored. In my case, I just change to "D:\MyIcon\myZip.ico". If your icon files has multiple icon, you can also specify the index of the icon. (Eg: "D:\MyIcon\myZip.ico,1").

8. When you done, just close up everything, log off and log in back, you should see .zip icon was updated.

Easy? Complicated? Nah, if you opted for the easy way, there's a "littleway" for you. Stardock was offerring a very powerful tools called "IconPackager" with a little sum you need to pay.

Refuse to pay? Then stick back to your default icon! Hahaha... ~~PowerTools from Creative Element is a freeware that enable you to change the icon easily too. However don't expect that it would be as great as IconPackager. :P They have their own target users.~~

Storm Codec - stormupd.dll problem with Antivirus

Ok, after my Avast antivirus software updated the virus definition, it appears to have problems with the stormupd.dll file which belongs to Storm Codec. For those who don't know what is Storm Codec, actually it is a codec which can play almost every media in its lite and compact player called Media Player Classic.

As I can't starts the Media Player Classic without get rids to the message, I tried to put the stormupd.dll into the exception list. Yet the irritating message still prompts and it prevent the system to detect the dll file. With no other choices, I starts to google up for the solutions. With few minutes of searching, finally I found a great solutions in one of the chinese forum (http://www.wustx.com/read.php?tid=53182). Well, is all written in chinese, and I don't really able to read those characters up, so I just download the file and patch it. To let all of my precious blog supporter to download the file, I had uploaded the edited dll into rapidshare.

Here is the step by step tutorial for those who don't know how the steps to patch the dll.
1. Download the edited stormupd.dll from here.

2. Right click the rar file (Winrar is required)

3. Select the Extract Here option

4. Right click the extracted stormupd.dll and select copy

5. Go to C:\Program Files\Ringz Studio\Storm Codec and right click then select paste

6. It prompts to update the file, just click yes to overwrite the original stormupd.dll

7. Just open up your media player classic, and thats it, no more problem.

Graduation Nite

This is the nite which we all gather together with our coursemates celebrating our graduation nite. After tonight most probabily we won't get to see each other as frequent as we used to be already. Perhaps some of them are still will going back to college for the convocation, but I think there would be quite an amount of my coursemates are leaving Malaysia to Liverpool Jone Moores University to top up for their degree programme. As I am not as rich as them, I had to stay back. :P

As the price compared to the night, to be frank, I dont think that is really worthwhile. We just enjoy taking photos, and walking around chatting, and hanging around with our friends in the ballroom only.

Today is the valentines day. This is the day where couples would go out to celebrate together and creates sweet memory between them. For me, I never get a chance to celebrate it actually. Same to this year also.

Me and my cute baobei both at PJ, but our PJ are different with each other. I was at Permas Jaya while she was at Petaling Jaya. Is a distance which more than 300KM... How do we make this day a sweet memory? Aih.... nevermind la... at least we get to celebrate it few days earlier.

K la, before end today's short post, I wish to tell baobei, HAPPY VALENTINES DAY, and stay happy because got me bully you everyday. Perhaps bullied by you is more ba.... XD Anyway, hope that we will be together forever... :S Mushy maro...

Actually I don't have many things to move, just that those things that I need to move are simply huge. Those things such as cabinet, and my computer desk are the hardest thing to be moved. Oh ya... As I going to move back to JB, I start cleaning and packing my stuff just now. Those who seen my drawer before, they would know how messy it was. Everything things I would just dump inside and shuts my drawer. LOL.... When I was checking things inside a box, then suddenly I found these.

These are all the greeting cards and letters that I've received during my diploma. That time I was still at college. Hmm... mostly are from my close friends which we used to share everything, laugh together and encouraging each other. They are simply amazing people because they paint my life with colors in my diploma.

However because of some problem, one of them not so close with me already... Sad sad.. :( No matter what, I wish them "ALL THE BEST!"

Yeah... the battle is over, and now I have no more exams to take, no more class to attend, no more school, and everything no more. :S Going to be contributing to the society in few weeks time again. This is how my table looks after exam... XD

What would the first thing I want to do? Of course is Sleeping~!!!!!... LOL... Human must sleep ma... right right? Thats why, I need to sleep. :P So what are the task that I still haven't done? Ya.. My FYP Documentations.. Sigh.. need 100 pages, and now still stucked, coz I've no idea what to write into that document. Any idea? XD

The final battle

Tomorrow would be my final paper for my degree and advance diploma course. Recall back the first day to college, it was almost four years ago (Mid 2003). I have come all the way from there till today, I reach the final milestone of the college life. Of course many things happenned for these past few years as this period is not a short period. Get to know many friends and many weirdos as well.

(!-.-) Sweat... after 10 attempts of uploading image using blogger, at last it fails too... End up using imageshack to upload my images.

As you can see, now my table is totally a mess just to act out the ambience of final battle approaching. LOL.... Anyway, wish you people all the best in next chapter of life where everyone would be leaving college very soon. I'll be moving back to my home, leaving this city very soon also. The things that I would be missing so much is those pretty and cute girls in college of course. XD~~

Mysterious Updater5 folder

There is a very annoying file folder which keep on appears in My Documents. No matter how I delete it, it still reappears. Hence I do a quick google, and I found out that actually it is done by the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader 8, which the auto update functions is the culprit of this mysterious Updater5 folder.

Naturally, we would open up the acrobat reader and check its settings inside. So I go through the normal preference setting, click on Edit > Preference, and ironically didn't found any things related with the updater.

Then I did another quick search again, then only found out that in order to let the folder dissapear, you need to change the updater folder from My Documents to "Your Desired Location". In Acrobat Reader 8, click on Help > Check Updates.

Then it would check for updates and prompt out a windows like this.

Click on the Preference and it would bring you to this windows.

Click on browse and select some folder which dumps all the temps files. In my case, I choose UserData folder to dump the updater folder. Once you had choosen the folder, just click OK and let the update runs.

Go to My Document and just deletes off the folder there and now it would never reappear again. :)

Final Year Project

After so many weeks of works on this Project, finally tested by our supervisor already. Now we can proceed to the documentation stage although final exam would be started just on this friday. Cool isn't it?

I have really forgotten since when this Ancient War project started. Well, this Ancient War is a Real Time Strategy Game which runs at the Pocket PC, Windows Mobile 5.0 platform. It wont be as great and cool as the Mobile Age of Empire that runs in the same platform.

We are stuck for months on how to implementing the Game API into the projects and our code platform changed from C# to C++. We also take many project as our reference such as the RTS tutorial make by some forumer in a game forum, which I don't really remember now, and also the Tank Battle game.

People might think play game is fun, but actually the process is not fun at all. We have been cracking heads on how to make even a simple things such as walking to be possible. Even possible, there is many things such as the location translation, and where is should stops, which objects would not collide with the unit and so on.

Testing and the coding progress is really extremely frustrating as everytime the emulator runs, my computer resources would be sucked up dry. CPU would be load at constant 100%. Doing other things while emulator are running seems to be nearly impossible. Honestly I really hates to run the emulators.

This is the processing load while Ancient War running in the emulator with my 4 years old computer.

At last, everything is end and we now can proceed to the Documentation for this Ancient War which our supervisor request us to came out with at least 100pages each. Easy? Nah... I bet I need to squeeze everything out from my brain just to write 1 page.

How good is AJAX?

The post below are just written based on my understanding on AJAX. There might have some information accuracy problem. You are welcome to justify it and discuss it at the comment pane at this entry.

AJAX might be quite fresh and new for some of you, but to those who are familar with web application development, I'm sure you had been heard about this upteem times.

Well, AJAX is a quite new technology which now getting more and more popular as many famous websites are turning into the implementations of AJAX. For example, Google earth is one of the best examples of AJAX implementations. Live Mail (Microsoft Hotmail), Yahoo Mail were using this AJAX technology too.

What is AJAX?
Take a short browse to Google search engine, it gives you definition of combination of Asynchronous Javascript and XML. Basically AJAX enabled website gives you a fast response to user request compared to the old browsing experience. This is because, AJAX does not refresh the whole page each time user send a request to the server. It only refresh the a portion of the websites only. Thus, you would feel that the feedback was quick.

I would take Yahoo Mail as an example. You can see that Yahoo Mail actually divided into several segments or portion. I highlighted it into different color so that you can spot the segments border.

As you can see from the picture, the one highlighted in blue would be the menu pane, which is always there and only will be refreshed when new mails arrived. (The other pane would not be refreshed and none of the data would be send back to the server). This is one of the way AJAX improves speeds compared to the traditional style.

Besides that, each time you navigate through the tabbed menu (The one highlighted in red), the segment which highlighted in green only would be refreshed instead of whole pages. When its exchanging message and fetching data from server, you would see there is a Loading message with an animated icon inside the green area only. Thus most of the time, user thought that it was part of the animation.

Is AJAX really that good?
Well.. most of the people would amazed with the speed that AJAX provides, however most of us don't see if there is any problem at most of the time. After the taiwan quake, and internet connection distrupted, now you noticed that AJAX is not as smart as you think. Why would I say so? Ok.. the traditional server side pages exchange in page by page but AJAX only exchange part of the page (Segments or Division). Hence when the browser tries to fetch the data, most of the time the normal web browsing ables to tell when is your page going to be completed. (Progress usually shown at the browser's progress bar).

For AJAX, all you can see is "Loading"... You won't know when would it be done, and of course clicking on refresh it not a good way. Refresh button would refresh the whole page instead of that particular portion. Of course maybe programmer can put the loading progress information into the portion instead of putting the words "Loading".. but would it be confusing if there are too many figures in % in the page?

The second issue would the the "BACK" button of your browser. Ok, imaging you are happily composing the email and then click on the send button happily. Then out of sudden, you recalled that you had missed something out. On the natural instinct you would sure click on the back button and hopefully everything is there. Of course most of the web programmers would cater this problem by remains what you have typed when you click on the back button.If the page is an AJAX'ed, surely there is no BACK option for you to choose. Why? because every operation done only would refresh the portion, not the whole page. Hence browser doesn't know that the information in the page are being refreshed.

Of course actually a good AJAX programmer able to handle both of these issue well, but at this stage, how many AJAX websites do realize of these problem?

Discipline yourself ya, Corporate Internet users!

If you have read today's STAR newspapers, you would be "entertained" by this news article voiced out my the MCMC (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission).

PETALING JAYA: Corporate Internet users have been advised by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to exercise discipline when using the Internet in view of the limited bandwidth available, as Malaysians get back to work Wednesday after a long weekend.

Hmm... exercise discipline... The first thought that crossed my mind is about P2P sharing activity which they always use as low bandwidth excuses. Yet when I further read the article, it was not about P2P sharing.

In the meantime, MCMC said that non-vital communications should be limited or not allowed at all.

"Check only office mail and do not open a browser to surf the Internet unless you have to," said MCMC head of communications Adelina Iskandar.

I understand that the fibre optic disaster had greatly affect the Internet bandwidth, but imaging the morning you get into office, turn on your computer and lay your fingers on the keyboard and mouse as usual. Then suddenly your manager tells us about MCMC asking corporate user to be discipline. No browser allowed until cable at Taiwan restores its operation. Okok.. I know some of you can live few weeks without browser, no reading online newspapers, no surfing forums, no knowledge sharing for office portal, no google in office.

Then continue to read the news,

Users might also want to consider cutting back on using Skype and other Voice-over-Internet protocol (VoIP) applications. VoIP is a popular and inexpensive Internet-based substitute to traditional telephone calls. The use of chat and instant messaging applications should also be disallowed or restricted at the office, she said.

Now, first no browser allowed. Now no Voip, no MSN, no Yahoo~!. Hell.. some company takes IM as their main communication tools. With IM, maybe manager just need to double click a contact in the dept to call for meeting. Imagine without IM, use shout? phone calls? or email? What for subcribing corporate line.. Might as well downgrade to home line. I mean those company which don't rely internet on doing business one la.

Taiwan Quake Impact

Obviously the impact for me is the affection of Internet access. For those who still blur why Taiwan earthquake can affect Malaysia communication, let me explain to you with my own understanding. I stated beforehand ar, is based on my understanding and it might be vary from the fact. :P

Ok... On 27December2006, the earthquake had damaged one of the important cabling which connecting Asia with Northern part of the world. The cable known as APCN2 (Asia Pacific Cable Network 2) which has segments all from Katong (Singapore) till Kita Ibaraki (Japan) as Asia communication physical media. During the earthquake, one of the segment at Taiwan consist of several cables being damaged severely. Hence all communication after the Tanshui (Taiwan) segment would be affected. Clear clear? If you still have any doubts you can refer to these interesting link below.

Of course because of this, I didn't logon to Blogger for few days. Hahahaa.. Actually I was lazy to login la.. :P Busy with my Final Year Project, assignments and Test. It was really cool that I settled my SPM assignment in few hours only. How do you spend your christmas day? LOL.. I spend the whole night doing my final year project. It makes my computer soo busy for the whole night. Then when sun gonna to rise, I quickly grab my phone and take some pictures of the Christmas morning. Hope you guys enjoy the picture, though it not that nice. :P

Sigh.. After 8th attempt, finally I got these picture uploaded. The server gone into Holiday Mood is it? :(

After that, I went to sleep and at the time I awake, the sun is almost down already. LOL.. This is my shortest Christmas ba.. Without anything special happenning and anything worth to be remembered. Hmm.. faster finish my final year project then I can relieve... :S

N70 Music Edition Firmware Review

I just update my firmware again from the normal N70 firmware to real music edition firmware. Well, it has no significant difference between the standard v5.0638.3.0.1 with the music edition one.

Changes made
The first difference is that Music Edition fresh boot in the green theme which like what you've seen in all of the Music Edition adverts instead of the standard blue theme.

Of course, the media key now becomes the dedicated music keys. It is not customizable compared to the standard edition firmware. A short press would activate the music player and a long press would activate the radio.

Well, in standard edition, the long press of the # key would bring the line switch prompt which switch between line1 and line2. For me, I don't even need the line switching shortcut. In older N-Series firmware, a long press of # key would switch profiles between silent and general. This is more useful than line switching shortcut for most of us, I believe. Luckily in the Music Edition firmware, long press of # still switch between profiles instead of active line. :)

Music Player
This new firmware for both standard and music edition now supports the AD-41 music adapter flawlessly. I just simply love it. However the default music player has no improvement at all compared to the previous firmware. I don't understand the needs of scanning whole Memory Card to get all your MP3 into the list everytime you open the player. Not only this, when you access the playlist, it again read all the ID3 tags each time the playlist was accessed. I had around 150 mp3's in that playlist and everytime it took me nearly 1minute to get my playlist accessed. Is this a smart way of Nokia's Music Player managing the song information? Its forgiveable for the standard edition firmware music player to behave such way as it's not really tailored for music purposes.

Yet in Music Edition, no imporvement was made. The player is still same as the old N70 firmware. A music player which takes ages to load the playlist, no function to edit the ID3 tags, it does not store your previous configurations such as Shuffle and Repeat, it does not resume the songs which last played (A cheap china brand mp3 player also know to resume perfectly), and no equalizer. You call this a Music Player in a Music Edition phone?

Is sad to say Sony Ericsson Walkman series or even K-series which don't focus on music capability has the better player than this Music Edition series of Nokia.

Turn Nokia N70 into Music Edition

This is the standard/normal N70 which you can seen it everywhere.

and this is the newly launched N70 Music Edition.

Well, the difference between the standard N70 and Music Edition N70 are, Music Edition (ME) comes with the all black housing, media pack consist of (Nokia AD-41 and HS-21 headset, Nokia 1GB Mobile MMC). The standard N70 package only comes with a stereo headset, and 64MB mobile MMC.

AD-41 Adapter

Nokia AD-41 is special because it has media remote control, and it also converts Nokia standard Pop-port to the standard 3.5mm audio jack which allows you to enjoy your music using your own earphone. Compared to Nokia AD-15 which comes with the 3rd Generation N-Series, Nokia AD-41 has integrated microphone and remote control.

After the basic introduction and explaination about the difference between standard N70 and Music Edition N70, now lets see how we turn our existing N70 into Music Edition N-Series.
In summary, the difference would be:
1. The black housing
2. Nokia AD-41 adapter
3. 1GB DVRSMMC
4. The latest N70 music edition firmware which comes with the Green Theme

Let us starts with the 1st item in the list, you can actually gets the full black grade AAA housing from the internet which cost you around RM30-RM50 depends on the quality. If you don't like the grade AAA housing, you can always opt for the original housing from Nokia Personal Care centres.

Then, for the Nokia AD-41 adapter you can find some dealers which sells it at the lower price than NPC. In my situation, I manage to get it at the price of RM95 inclusive postage. The NPC sells the same adapter at the price of RM145 if I still remember it correctly.

The third item, 1GB DVRSMMC (Mobile MMC) you can get it anywhere which roughly cost you around RM80-RM90.

Lastly is the more technical part where you need to flash or upgrade your existing firmware by yourself. The targetted new firmware are v5.0638.3.0.1. The older firmware would not be able to support AD-41 adapter and you won't be able to listen to the radio through AD-41 adapter. Of course the targetted firmware solves both of this problem. It also provides new theme which green in color, and now the default Music Player and Radio background would be paint according to your theme instead of the blue color background. In case you don't know how to check your firmware version, you can check it by entering *#0000# in your phone during standby mode.

Steps of upgrade your firmware
Before you start, you must clearly understand that this process is considered quite risky. If you don't follow the steps correctly, you might damage your phone severely.

1. Get NNS (Nemesis Service Suite Beta) from this websites http://www.b-phreaks.co.uk/software.htm (Scroll to the bottom most and there's a zip file sized around 4.75MB)

2. After finish download it, install the NSS into your computer. During installation, you would be prompt to choose the service which you want to used. In this case, choose Virtual USB Devices

3. Then finish the installation, and now download the Nokia Sofware Updater from the Nokia Official Websites. http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4226014 Choose your model which is N70.

4. After finish download, install the Updater as well.

5. Connect your phone to your PC. In this case makes sure you had your PC-Suite installed. Makes sure your cable connection is stable and don't touch your cable anymore unless instructed. Cable that you can use are : CA-51 which originally bundled in N70 package, or you DKU2 which tend to be more stable.

6. After your phone is connected to your pc, starts the NSS. You can see theres a discovery icon at right top corner there. Click it to let NSS detect device information. After those information generated, click on phone info (which is the second icon from left). Key in the product code and check the enable checkbox. The product key varies depends on what kind of firmware you wish to update. If you want pure Music Edition firmware which not support chinese language, enter your product code (0543026) or (0543027). If you need chinese language support, I suggest you update to the latest standard N70 firmware. ~~The product code would be (0524115) or (0524116)~~.

7. After entered your product code, click write and wait it updates complete, then click on read button to verify your product code again.

* Some people having problem to verify the product code by click on the read button. Don't worry, you can verify it by click on the FLASH button, then click on the scan button at the very next tab. It can reveal your new product code too. :)

Then exit the NSS, and open the NSU.

8. Follow the instructions given inside the NSU closely and do not touch the cable until whole update process is completed.

9. After finish the update, your phone now is N70 Music Edition or Compatible. You would notice theres two extra theme which is the Green theme or the Red theme. Both are exclusively designed for Music Edition series. :)

In the end, here you are sucessfully turn your normal N70 into a music series N70. Enjoy ya.

Movie again...

I tell you, watching a 1950's movie is not fun at all. Apart of black and white image, which you can't tell days and night apart, there is no subtitles. Yea, its hard to catch what the heck they are talking. Anyhow, I finish the bloody 2 hours movie and I can feel that spider making webs over my head. XD

Of course after watching this antique movie for 2hours, is time to reward myself. I continued watch another movie "Flushed away". This is cute man.. Especially the bug or leech? LOL.. the way they singing, their expression was great. Yet I felt that the mouse was abit bored. If you wanna to find some movie to laugh, this is recomended. :)

Streetcar Named Desire

Ya... thats the title of our drama presentation. A very old playwrite by Tennessee Williams. The play was made into movies which directed by Elia Kazan in 1951. Yea.. you are not mistaken.. it ages more than half century. :)

Well, the story was about an American woman, Blanche who pursue or wanting life of a princess in those fairy tales story, which normally a Handsome prince would take care of a princess and live happily ever after. Of course we know thats impossible in the reality, but Blanche still beliefs in the fairy tales. In the end, she couldn't get herself back to reality due to those things that happens on her.

Hmm... the most important part is...... We have to act the drama out... OMG!~!!!!... and our group consist of 5 Males... Hence, there are two of us need to act as girl! and I am the lucky guy who take the female lead roles. ">.<>

Messy Presentation

Today settled another presentation, but it totally screwed. XD This is because lack of preparations and communication between group members. Suppose 4 of us are going to present today, but yesterday night around 10pm only got a member informed me that the other member can't turn up for tomorrow presentation, so I need to make adjustment for it. Suppose I should receive all the slides on Monday so that I can get ready all things by Tuesday. Yet, I only receive slides from a member instead of 3... :S Thus, I did everything in last minute thanks to them.. Grrr....

The Hospital

For the past few days actually I've been following this taiwaness series, "The Hospital" or known as "白色巨塔". This drama starring by Jerry Yan, one of the members from the long lost F4 - Once very popular taiwan group. :P

This is a lengthy 39 episode drama, why 39 instead of 40? Hmm... I have no idea too. It storys about conflict between the two major specialist group which known as the pillar of the hospital, the Internal specialist and External specialist. It reveals the dark side behind the white uniformed professional.

For me this drama is quite interesting and educational for the front part where you can see how different people use different technique to survive when climbing up the stairs of "The Hospital" politics. Though the ending was abit ambiguios and too fast, but somehow it still concludes something. LOL... Hmm.. this drama is a better option compared to the other taiwaness idol drama series which full of senseless love stories (as if they don't need to work).

Weeee... today went to KLCC for movie. It's such a long time didn't watch movie in cinema. The last movie I've seen is "Cars" by Pixar in our lecture hall ba.. LOL.. Arr.. this is not counted.. XD Hmm.. last movie is "DOA" at 1Utama ba...

Happy Feet for me is more to a musical movie ba.. Since every penguin has a songs in their soul and singing is the main part of the movie. XD The main character, Mumble (I think called as mumble coz it has pair of mumble feet) is hatched as abnormal penguin, and it can't walk properly and sing. It actually discriminates by the other penguin as it can't sing. Yet Mumble still find it's own happiness and try it best to help other penguins. Hahaha.. isn't we should be like Mumble also? :P

Those penguins are soooooooOOoo cute.. LOL... but sea lion suppose to be cute creature, yet in the movie is not. Hmm.. thats all for the short review of this movie la... I gonna to find the soundtracks of this movie..~!!!!

Playing with Windows Mobile 5.0

I've been playing around with this Windows Mobile 5.0 for these few days. This is because, my Final Year Project requires this Pocket PC. Compared to a typcial Symbian OS, Windows Mobile in this version, it allows touch screen of course, and it provides two types of display orientations. The potrait mode is what we usually seen and some prefer landscape mode and it is a better option when you are reading some article with your pocket pc.

Well at the glance of the interface, the active task are quite straight foward, and it has the upcoming task list too. Symbian active standby provides similar features but I would say that it's not that practical to use as it only display today's event. You have to get into calender to know your upcoming event which is more troublesome. Perhaps we should understand that Symbian powered devices has smaller screen compared to Windows Mobile powered devices. Windows Mobile is almost similar with the real windows that we are using on our desktop. They have similar file structures, which consist of Program Files, Documents folder, Windows folder and so on. I would say that Windows Mobile interface was not so perfect also. It is because at the right top corner, the button would display OK most of the time, and it means apply your setting and exit the setting pane. In real life windows, the top right corner is always our exit button. Hence, for someone who is quick with your finger, you have to slow it down in order not to make a wrong setting. :P

For inputations, WM5 relies on the SIP which I found quite tedious also when you try to typing in a QWERTY keypad with the stylus. As for the handwriting regconition, I have to write the whole alphabet once without lifting the stylus. If not it turns out other characters. For example when we write T, we can write (-) then only (|). We have to think a way to complete it without lifting the stylus.

Anyway is quite interesting also to have the Windows in your palm-sized pocket pc. This is how it looks like when this blog is viewed in a pocket pc. :P

Mistake! Can you afford it?

While think back of my student bill and my expenses for this month plus some life issues, suddenly this question strikes out.... I'm very sure that everyone here did mistakes before, and in fact everyone in the world does. How much does the mistakes cost you? How would you amend your fault? Perhaps running away and pretend that nothing actually happened?

For me, I've been making lots of mistakes throughout my whole life. (Of course alots or I'll be a distinction, first class student with RM70++ tuition fee for this semester). Too bad, I have to let my parents to crack out hefty RM1.5K for the tuition fees of this semester. Sad to say that I don't actually really regret of not studying well for all these years, except when the time of paying the student bills. Well mistakes of studies cost me extra few K of student fee, but sometimes mistakes in life cost more than anything.

Infact a good deed doesn't makes you an angel yet a mistakes banish you into a devil. Don't put those lovey-dovey relationship into this equations la... coz love is blind. (Sometimes is it not blind also)... Take friendship for example, or perhaps those problem that I faced many many months ago.. You might did many things to help a person, but when you messed up something, you are certified condemn. Why is that so? LOL.. I have no idea bout that too.

Perhaps mistakes would never end till the moment you returned to earth. I mean the ground/soil/mud/floor or wateva as long as not the martian story la.. :P Anyway, moving on... I think the best way is to take out your precious notebook, note it down and don't let yourself make it again. I wonder how many people would actually did that... surely not me la... K la.. that's all for today. BTW, Westlife new album really nice man... maybe I would do a very short review tomorrow. :)

CHIP magazine delivery issues

Well have you guys wondering why CHIP magazines didn't appeared in your mailbox for 2months already? Hmmm... As we know CHIP isn't CHEAP at all yet it only published during mid of the months and usually when we got it at our hands, its already end of the months. It's hard to get it from any bookstores or newstands compared to the other PC Magazines, so I subsribed that particular magazine few months ago.

Based on it's forum at http://forum.chip.com.my/, it doesn't contains any announcement regarding to the issues too. So I thought only my issue were missing. I roam around in the forum, and realized that there are many forumers complained for the same thing. This is the information that I retrieved from one of the post

the next publication will only out in December....

So no more chip for the next 3 months...

So in conclusion, there is no September, October, and November issue would be available at anywhere for this year. Futhermore the new price of the CHIP magazines are ~~RM 10~~ RM 12!

If the power switch is faulty then why I could switch it off at the first place? Then I plugged it to the charge, and the phone lights up and start charging. Hence it's certified alive by LittlewaY of course. :P To double check whats the problem with the button, I removed the casing, including the frame at the back camera. I directly press the button, but it has no reaction. Hence again, I confirmed that the power button is spoilt. Now, the problem still remains unsolved as the phone is remain off situations.

Hmm.. then I opened up my browser, start to google about the power switch problem, and tadaa~~ I found a hint. First get an electric conductor, a normal paper clips would do (of course not the plastic paper clips). All that I need to do is connect two pins the anode and cathode with the conductor so that it ignites the power button pressed state. At my first attempt, the phone lights up but it did not start (The phone is connected to charger, so whenever any button is pressed, it would lights up). Same results for my second attempts. Then I decided to get into deeper, as the N70 power switch are hidden behind the phone speaker, so I can only connect with assumption. At my third attempts, it finally starts. :D

So I took it to the service centre at Lowyat Plaza, and fix it. I also ask them to reflashed my firmware, so that it can recognized chinese characters. Hence un-banana'ing in this post is actually means that reflashed the english firmware which unable to recognize chinese characters into the new firmware which able to recognize chinese characters.

It looks good, and when I first access to the clock function, it stated Beijing. LOL... Is that a China firmware? Maybe....... the things that I don't like is the font in messaging are extremely tall and skinny which looks abit awful for me. :P

Yet is fun to see the menu in chinese.. LOL..

Format PC lo....

Is such a long time since don't know N months ago I didn't format my pc already. Since my windows appeared to be abit slow and unstable, I decided to format it instead of ghost it back. Well now finally I start to use Mircosoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 instead of old Service Pack 1. LOL... Due to the too used of ghosting, I find that format works are way too long. Heck I've been sitting infront of PC whole night just to install those software that I needed back into my PC. I swear I won't format my PC again in a short period of time again. (!-.-)

Anyway, I have switched my theme from Aqua to Milky Tiger OSX theme. Accompanied by LittlewaY edited wallpaper, this is how my new desktop theme. For those who interested on how my old theme looked like, you can get it from here.

Class again

Hoho... finally back to the class again. I've not attending classes since January of this year. Pretty long already isn't it? Hmm... the first lecture was about SPM (What the heck, now still taking SPM... :P) which is actually Software and Project Management subject taught by our dear ang moh guest lecture Dr. Mark from Campbell University.

Well this is not the interesting part. The most interesting part is our dear brand NEW DKABA air condition was not working and we have to sit there for 4hours in that "cute" lecture hall with other 2 courses. In total, the lecture hall has 3 courses together AIA, AIT, and AIB enjoying that suana-liked-lecture hall. Lucky for our dear angmoh guest lecture Dr. Mark to lecture us in there for 2hours only. :P Then followed by another subject which is DRAMA... sigh.... Those term used are actually almost similar with the Short Stories subject..... Sigh...~!~!~!~!!~~!~!~!!

Is such a long long long time I didn't blog. Wahahaha.. I know I'm lazy, no need you guys to remind me ba.. :P K la.. Nothing special to blog also, in my mind now full of ..................... seminar materials about the "Augmented Reality". LOL... I think by the end of this month, Desmond would become augmented Desmond or perhaps Augmented Littleway sounds better? :P

Argh.. forget about the augmented thingy or else I'll see everything with the augmentations. Yea.. sense that I'm having some stress isn't it? Hahahaha..

Hmm.. few days ago I played Daytona again at carrefour there, who knows my skill really getting worse till I also "no eyes to see". I used to finished the advance course with 1st place, and guess how well I drive now? 15th place.. and I didn't even complete the whole race because I crashed it on the very first lap. Wahahahaha... cannot cannot... after my seminar and FYP, I gonna practice back till I get the 1st place back. Wahahaha... :P Really cannot tahan one lo... cause those little kids play better than me.

Then another few days ago, me and some of my friend went to 1 Utama to catch the Jacky Chan's movie "Rob-B-Hood". That movie was really nice. It makes me laugh till tears also wanna come out already. Wahaha.. I know some of you maybe haven't watch it, so hey.. don't miss out this movie o.. I tell you, is different from previous Jacky movie.

Before end my blog, does anyone knows where to get Shinchan animations? :P I mean the one where it has Shinchan's sister in it de.. I want mandarin speaking version. If anyone knows where to get it, kindly please tell me oooo... 3Q 3Q...

Finally end of Training already

Well, half years pass so quickly. At the beginning, I really can't get used to this kind of life, where wake up before the sun did, squeeze at lrt with people, and bring the sleepy mood to office. Yet now, we know how to enjoy this kind of life already. We can't change the life of waking up early in the morning, but we makes our journey in the lrt interesting. :P We'll be missing those cute girls who taking the same ride with us every morning. Wahahahahaa..

Recall back from the first day till now, there are really many memories to be remembered. From SD to AM, from Java to Coldfusion, and many things more. From tomorrow onwards, we no need to go back to the office, and we no need to rush for the IESync projects anymore.

1Utama Shogun

Weee... today is our Mr. Richard's birthday and he suggest us to patronize the Sushi Buffet Restaurant - Shougn at 1Utama shopping mall. The buffet session was from 12pm - 3:30pm, so we really sat there for full time. XD

The restaurant waiter and waitress would line up in a row at the entrance there and all of them will greet us when we entered the restaurant. Isn't it cool? Feel like we are somebody who is big shots. XD

Then we find our way to our table which is booked by our friend and the first item we headed are the shark fins. There are eight of us there, and everyone of us takes at least a bowl of that thing. XD LOL... Well, sure have to eat something which is more worthy isn't it? If you agree, then you understand why I consumed more than 2 bowls of it. :P

After that the second item that we target was the sushi of course. We swipe all types of sushi 1 each type. For me, their sushi actually not very special but is a buffet style. Hence just eat as many as you can without worrying the bills getting longer and longer since it was long in the beginning already. XD

Well, after gulping total of 2 bowls of shark fins, 1 bowls of ginseng chicken porridge (Which I'm sure my mums makes a better porridge), 2 plates which filled with all varietys of sushi, 1 plate of BBQ'ed chicken and fried prawn sticks(Should be prawn), some pudings, jelly, fruits and finally the desert - Ice Cream. The ice cream was fantastic actually. XD Hmmm.. in the end each of us need to pay around RM55.20 for that ~~sushit~~ (typo) sushi buffet. :)

Then after our grand meal, we catch the movie called "DOA". Hmm as everyone expected, the characters are super sexy. It has high amount of funny elements. :)
Anyway, this movie still not worth for the ticket unless you wanna see sexy girl in widescreen la.. ahahahaha... Just same as what my friend said "Luckily movie is treat by our birthday boy". XD

Well, not stopping my post here yet. Today is 23 September 2006 and it means the old Rapid KL services are officially revised on today. As we usually took the free shuttle to LRT from 1Utama, after the revision, there was no more free shuttle that travels between 1Utama and Kelana Jaya LRT stations. Instead of taking the free shuttle, now we have to take bus no T43 and it cost RM2. The most stupid things is there is banner everywhere saying that we can enjoy free ride during 3days promotion yet the bus driver charge every passenger for RM2. Aih.. though the RM2 is for whole day but if foriegner took public bus, they would be attacked by the blur virus. Local KL people also trying hard to understand the stupid leaflets.

To me it seems that the transportation system was getting worst. *yawn*

Nokia N70

Wohoo.. I finally got this baby on last tuesday. This phone really impress me with its amazing speed, although it might be slow for some people, but hey.. for me it was fast enough. Compared to my old Nokia 6600, one of the ancestors of the S60 clan, N70 has an amazing speeds.

It was a busy week for me, not really busy but spend most of my time in the office. :P Hence I don't have really much time to fully explore my baby here. Well, the phone same as me, a banana who doesn't recognize chinese characters. Though N70 has the firmware that supports chinese font, but not for mine.. :( So no choice, I installed the chinese stars (which work charms in my Nokia 6600) into my N70. Too bad, it doesn't really work in N70 as the font still fail to renders. Then without giving out, I tried with the good old Q9 which is a chinese input software that work with most of the S60 phone from 3650 till my previous 6600. Too bad, in N70 case, the font is still not there. After some google work for few hours, FINALLY.. the are some software written by china or hk people called gpfep. It comes with mmcfonts plugin which enable the phone to renders the chinese characters. Now currently I am using gpfep fonts and input with the good old chinese stars. (As I too lazy to visit Nokia Center to get the firmware upgraded).

Apart from the chinese software, the webcam software refused to work too. I still can't get it worked till this moment and hopefully I can found another way of getting it works. My good old TV remote control also discarded as N70 doesn't has a IR port. At least it was not too bad as I seldom watch TV. :P

Comparing the audio quality, it somehow dissapoint me. Perhaps I am expecting too much from Nokia phone to be par with Sony Ericsson's walkman series audio quality. Yet if compared to my old Nokia6600, N70 was far far better. I will try to get my Pop-Port audio adapter which converts the jack to the standard 3.5mm port within this few weeks. With this port, I can test the audio quality further with my altec lansing speaker. I do reserve some hope on the quality. :P

For image quality, N70 as a 3G phone, it comes with dual camera which 0.3Megapixel infront and 2.0 Megapixel at the back. For the front camera, it was extremely terrible. The noise of the picture are very high, especially at the poor lighted condition. However the noisy reduce significantly under well lighted area. For the back camera, I like the way which we slide the cover to activate it. It save the trouble from navigating all the way in the menu to get the camera activated. The quality was acceptable yet we don't compared it to the Sony Ericsson phone again as SE camera has the autofocus. Yet, the absence of the autofocus in N70 doesn't make the camera too bad. In N70, there are several picture mode which you can choose and see which mode suits you better. (The setting revert back to default whenever I close the camera slide :S )

As for the memory expension, it uses dv-rs-mmc so the cards of my n6600 could not be compatible with it at all. The funny thing is, I've to figure around 5mins on how to get the tiny little mmc out of the tiny slots there. LOL.. Talking about tiny, the button (2) is really close with the navigation pad which I often face the problem of pressing the button (2). Remind you guys, my finger was not the really big, yet I face this problem. So for those who was big finger, I doubt you can press the button (2) happily without accidentally pressed the navigation pad. Oh ya, press and hold the (#) button does not switch your active line to line 2 already. Instead, it is a fast switch between your current profile to the silent profile and vice versa. It is pretty good isn't it? ;)

One thing I found out is N70 really want us to get to the gallery very much. Why? coz there is a gallery shorcut at the active panel, and the new media key (which appeared on N-series phone) gets you to the gallery too at the default settings.

K la, thats all for the short review for the N70. I'll continue my review when I am free to explore it futher. Below is the picture of my new N70 taken by the good old N6600. :P

ActiveScene Project

Hmm..I got the idea of this ActiveScene from Lowyat.NET forumers who asking for a desktop which dynamically change according to the real time. For example, when it was night, the sky suppose to be dark, when it's dawn, perhaps blue color and etc. I start this ActiveScene project with simple platform - Macromedia Flash 8 with some actionscripting.

The graphics and the effect might not be as good as what you expected, coz I just wanted to bring out the ideas and make a living prototype out of the idea. Thus, the color and graphics might be dissapointing for those who has high demand in graphic details. Afterall, I am still very sucks in design field. XD

These are the features of my humble ActiveScene :
- Whole scene would be change according to the real-time (windows time)
- Stars at night
- Meteors fall from sky if you are lucky enough to spot it. (Happens hourly)

After some explorations on the template editor, I've found out that actually they do provide advance customizations for the widgets, just that I haven't found it few days ago.

This screenshots shows the default widget code in the html editor.

Just check on the widget control checkbox above the screen, it actually shows me whats inside all the widgets. That's pretty cool. Check the screenshot below

With this, I can arrange and customize how the content in my widgets to be appeared. :)

Switching to blogger BETA

Hmm.. I've switch to the beta version of blogger which seems to provides more flexibility. After switching to the BETA version, you have to discard your old templates and get it replaced by new templates. This is because the tags and the way they control each division are different now.

Last time I used to add things at the sidebar easily through the html template editor there which I can get full control of how I want it to looks like. However in the new BETA version, they renamed the whole things as widget. Each division at the sidebar are considered as a new widget. Hence if you want to add new widget, you need to use their template editor (not the html editor), then click on add new widget, after that choose the widget type that you wish to add, and finally you get what you want to add. The customizablity is quite low acutally unless you put everything using the javascript/html widget.

Another thing is when I ported the old template into this new template, the problem that I've faced are the background issue. No matter how I define it using CSS in the given <style> tag, the background is still white. After few minutes, finally I get to overrides it directly from the <body> tag. Aih.... During the process of trying, I have no idea how and when I accidentally remove the original blogger navigation tab and now I have no idea how to got it back. XD

Anyway, I like the label features though other blogs like wordpress has this kind of functionality long times ago. :P

LOL, today I watched the movie "Re-cycle" staring by Li Xin Jie one. Starting of the movie still got abit nice but at the middle where Li Xin Jie went into another dimension till the end, I don't really know what's the movie trying to tell me lor.. Whole movie was watching her keep on running from that so-called wave, and finally they ran to the final station. Arrr.. dunno la... maybe I am too stupid for this kind of movie.. Luckily didn't went to the cinema to watch. Really confusing... XD

Well, is about time to let my blogger know more about me. Personally I seldom write about me myself virtually around internet. Well most of you know, my name Desmond Goh Seaw Wei, which always identified as Seaw Wei or some even called me LittlewaY which happens to be my virtual nick. I was born in 3rd of December 1985, 10:20am in Sultanah Aminah General Hospital, Johor Bahru a city of Johor,Malaysia. Surprisingly I was borned as a fat and chubby baby into this family. Ironically now I am a super underweight dude perhaps due to genetic inheritance by both of my parents. Ok, I am the second son among 3 childs of my parents. I had a brother which 2 years elder than me and a sister which is 5years younger than me.

Initially my family and I lived in Wadihana, a village which very close to JB city. Due to both of my parents are working, I was taken cared by my grand aunt till the age of 6 and my parents will pick us up during the night time. At the age of 8, we moved to a newly developed city Permas Jaya and we nest there till now. XD

Education
I attended my kindergarten at Century Kindergarten in year 1990. Well, don't ask me what happen in there as I don't really remember what's going on at that time. :P Further on, I completed my primary school at SRK Saint Joseph from year 1992 till 1997 and what I could recalled is the NATO headmaster. Oh ya, I did receive few chinese classes during primary 3, but stopped attend it after few months because being caught skipping classes. *shy*.

In year 1998, I continued my secondary education in SMK Dato Jaafar. During secondary school, I hold post as a school libririan till Form4. I was invited to join chess club as my sports cocuricullar activity and participate in few Open Competition organized by some of the school yet always empty handed :P. I also joined English Society and participate Choral Speaking competitions for few years. Luckily in this competitions, we always manage to get champs for zone district but always get 'pawned' by Convent. Grrr.. As for uniform body, I joined tae-kwondo out of the forces by school as at that time, each student MUST joined uniform body. In TaeKwonDo society I manage to hold the post as club secretary and qualified as Green Belt. Heee.. Now my skill not even a white belt as I stop practicing it for years already. I left my secondary school in the year of 2002 after my SPM.

Then, in year 2003, I came to KL all alone without any close friend around me and studied at Rahman College taking Diploma in Computer Science (Computer Maths). Without knowing that the course was mainly about Maths, I struggled my way to complete my Diploma in the year 2005. Then I further up my study by taking Bachelor of Science in Information System Engineering, and Advance Diploma together. Currently I am a final year student already. XD

Working Experience
Well, I started my first paid job during my form4 school break. I was working as a factory operator, which sometimes control the machines, and carry cartons of drinks to the forklift pallete. Then when I completed my SPM, I work as a promoter for 3 days. XD Promoter job was not fun at all. Heeee... Then later on, working as waiter in Quickly (currently known as Roibo) a bubble tea shops. In there, I get to learn lots of things, and manage to create 2 new flavor drinks by accident. :P

Then I was working as a trainee in this local software house which a specialize in writing software for automobile industry. In here, I get to be involved in 2 IESync product, which is IESync ECM 3.3 and IESync Lite 2.0. I get to learn alots of things in here also. Java, JSP, Oracle DB, Coldfusion, Firebird DB and so on. It polished up my javascript also. Heeeee...

Personality
Well as for my personality, I am tend to be more towards introvert. I seldom approch people which I don't know, and getting problems to communicate with strangers too. Yet I like to hang around with friendly friends, but I hate childish people. Though I am not that mature also. XD

As for independant, I think I considered as quite independant fella coz living alone in KL here without shouting "Mummy" (unless need funding).

I love computer more than anythings I possed, yet I make my computer works for 24/7. XD I am gadgets lover too but its too expensive for me to going any further. Hence so far I only got a Symbian powered mobile N6600, a gift from my lovely parents few years ago.

I can spend whole day with my computer without realizing it and I love it. My greatest passion is programming, followed by doing some Flash clips and design web pages. Besides computers, I occassionally will visit for movie, singing K, and play daytona in the arcade. XD

Relationship
Hmm.. for this, my target partner would be someone who is friendly, understand me, care me of course, non shopping lover, and cannot be too fat. Hahahaa.. Coz if too fat how am I gonna to carry her up. I found girls which has big round eyes, sunny smile, and friendly girl are cute. Hehehehe.... K la, share with you some of my secret la. I had my very first crush at the age of 17, first love at the age of 19. Both end up empty of course. XD I won't accept or confess to anyone before I get to know the person well, so far la.. No idea what will happens in future also. Thats why those that get into relationship even only know each other for few days, to me is totally crap. Hahaha... don't flame me ya.. Thats my believe. Of course at this moment, I am single and has no target at all. So stop all your guessing. Hahahhaa..

Believes
I am a christian, believes in the almighty god, and reborn in christ on 12 December 1998 in SeventhDay Adventist Church. Though, I hate to go around and tell people what I believes as in my opinion, action is louder than words. I believe god works in wonder ways for everyone. :)

Knowledge
The purpose of putting this portion is to hope that I can get more freelance project. Hahahaha.. The programming language that I had experienced are ASP.Net, C, C++, C#, Coldfusion MX, Java J2EE, J2SE (JSP), PHP, and VB. For scripting, I experienced in CSS, HTML, and Javascript. For design and multimedia, experienced in Flash with actionscript 2.0. For server management, experienced in setting up IIS in windows environment, Apache Tomcat Server, Apache Web Server. For Database, experienced in Access through ODBC, Firebird 1.5, MySQL Server, Oracle DB, and SQL Server 2k. Other than these, grab me to know more. Hahaha... coz not related to freelance opportunity. :P

Currently working on Pocket PC projects as my Final Year Project. Will update you guys all along the development process (if I am free enough to update la).

Ahh... after a week, finally here again to ~~blog~~ rant again. Today I left office at around 5:40 something because wanna get home earlier to rest down and enjoy the weekend. Hmmm... but when we reach Kelana Jaya LRT Station, the doors of the LRT Station were shutted half, and my friend told me whenever the train got problem, they would shut the door. Then we went on to the platform there and waited for the train as usual lo... The LRT make an announcement saying that they encountered some problem at the Sri Rampai station there and the train service would serve only between Kelana Jaya till Setiawangsa. We was like why.... grrr... why not stuck at Melati or Wangsa Maju. So we start to do our planning on which public transport should we take in order to reach Wangsa Maju. At last we decided to take the LRT till Masjid Jamek and switch to take bus from there because there are plenty of bus which would go Wangsa Maju.

After few minutes of waiting, finally 1 train arrive and we get into the train. First few station was like normal and nothing wrong with it except the people in the train is unusually a lot. Then start from Asia Jaya station, the train tend to stop there more than 5minutes, and people start getting impatient and squeeze'ing. Especially for the KL Sentral stations where it stops for more than 15minutes I think. Then after a FEW minutes, we finally reached Masjid Jamek Stations. As I have expected, the station was packed by people. That's ok for me, but what annoyed me was the poeple anxiously getting into the train when we are trying to get off from the train. What annoyed me more was when we reach to the ticketting checkpoint there, the staff there was actually scolding those people who trying to get into the platform to catch the train. That fella says in Malay "Nak masuk, masuk je la... tren 1 jam 1 sahaja.. lu orang tunggu je la kat bawah.. kalau tak nak tunggu, keluar...." (Translated to english "If you wanna enter then just enter.. There is only a train on each hour and you guys just wait down there.. If not then get off from here") I was like WTH.... if not because of your faulty train, your bloody station wouldn't be so congested la... What a great service they providing there... Then nevermind....

As we get out from the Masjid Jamek LRT station, the surround of the stations was flooded by the water flows from monsoon drain. I think there is someone drown there as I saw some of the Bomba (Firemen) rush to the drain nearby. We stand there like a fool thinking should we just dip into the flood and cross to the Star LRT, as the bus stations is more further. Then finally we recovered from our foolishness when I recalled that there is another underground tunnel which can pass to the other side of the station. Luckily the other side was not flooded, and we managed to get to the bus station - dry. XD

Still not the end of the story yet. There are really lots of bus going to maluri. I mean a lot... Really alot... the bus going to Maluri would never lost from your sight. I briefly count, and I've found that it was more than 5 bus in 10minutes. Yet no bus was going to Wangsa Maju. Aih... after waiting for few minutes.. erm.. perhaps is more than few already.. then finally saw 191 coming. I was happy awhile coz finally saw a bus going to Wangsa Maju. Who knows, when it reach at the bus station, that bus driver straight away change the number and not going to Wangsa. I was (!-.-).... So you guys tell me how? Some Menteri suggest us to support public transport, yet don't even bothered to ensure the service quality. They really should be the first to experience the feeling of travelling using public transport.

Whole day out

Yooo.. I've been whole day out today... Morning 10am till 1pm - Me, Ah Hock and Nicole were in Lowyat Red Box making some sound pollution there. Hahaha... But that Jacky's song, 我会想你 we really sang it till very nice leh... :P It has been such a long time 3 of us didn't crazy liao. Then after singing'K, we went for a short walk at Sg Wang then set off to my second destination. Nicole and me took the monorail to KL Sentral, and I found out that they actually provide free shuttle from Monorail KL Sentral Station to the main KL Sentral Interchange there. LOL... other people might not understand what so weird about it, but for those living in KL sure know why. K.. Now I explain to you guys why. That freaking station was just only a few minutes walking distance. Yet, they provide free shuttle for us. I wonder which fella will really take it when we only take few minutes to reach the interchange.

Then I switch to Rapid KL lrt to station University. My next stop was Millenium Court but I never been there before. So I ask around people there, but none of them knew where the hell is it. :S Luckily my friend who studied at UM, Au Yoong knew the place very well. What a relieve. Hahaha.. Then go find Shinny to help her settle her flash stuff.. (I didn't really helped anyway) Hahahaa..

After that, I rush for my third stop... UM... to attend my jiejie's convocation. (No need to wonder.. no blood related one)Hahaha... UM really huge and thanks again to Au Yoong to bring me the way to buy bears and the Hall. I really sweat when I found out that they sell everything during convocation day. Compared to TARC only sell flowers and bears, UM here they sell flowers, bears, food, CARS (Ya, cars.. Au Yoong told me thats nothing wrong coz most graduan needs a car), then next few stall selling cars also but this time is toy car.. I ask him, then what about this... Hahahaha... crazy man.. why got people sell toy car.. He told me ya.. they sell everything.. *sweat* Then somemore got stationaries, some local delicacies, and tibits. I thought I was walking in Pasar Malam.. Hahaha...

Then when we reach the hall outside, there was really many people. Their junior come in one huge gang to support their senior. So supportive... in TARC got such things meh? Hahahhaa... After few "minutes" of waiting finally found my jiejie, and her family took me to SS2 for dinner. (So paiseh) Hahaha.. K la.. before I end my post for today, I want to congrats jiejie once more... "Congratulations to you.. you have made it~!!!" :)
